After initial analysis, it was identified that existing code is a combination of multiple inconsistent parts, each created by a separate team with flaws both in UI and functional code.

It was agreed to start implementation from scratch using existing code as a source of requirements. New solution with additional functionality and fixes was ready in 3 months.

This became a start of a long term project during which we have implemented:

Tool to collect and manage CVs for employees hired for music festivals run by the company. Based on Symfony PHP, tool allowed to collect CVs, different forms required during hiring process and generate timesheets. Forms exported as PDF files with employees data ready for printing on paper.

Our task was to extend 3rd party plugin to sell tickets, implement Buy Tickets page with additional functionality not provided by the plugin. We have implemented pre-sale pages with limited access, automatically opening access at selected time and supported during sales before multiple events.

PWA based on React JS with Symfony PHP as a backend. App allowed to select photos and order printing on selected material: Arcylic, Metal, Canvas, Foam etc. Included full ordering process vith Credit Card payments and monthly subscription. Images printed by another company, we have implemented integration with their API which allowed to collect HOPE Prints orders and send them to corresponding printers.

Our task was to split existing multi site Wordpress into two independent websites and prepare it for redesign. Once redesign was done, we've implemented necessary improvements like correct calculation estimated delivery date based on their production speed and additional Rush Charges when faster production is requested. Another interesting part was a migration from the old website to new websites after redesign was done. During lengthy redesign process, old website was still collecting orders and Wordpress storing a lot of its styles and texts in the database didn't allow a simple switch of a new code to the old database. We have also updated their custom product editor to the latest PHP and made requested fixes and improvements.

Started with selection of a plugin that would fit customer's needs, we have later done an extension of standard search of Locations and Providers to allow search by ZIP Vode and made it display results ordered by distance. Later we had to fix issues with menus in newer versions of Safary, publications on Facebook, changes to layouts of details pages and other small fixes and improvements.

Based on Drupal, this project was mainly unrelated to it as its core functionality was built around processing of big number of images and getting them ready to print. The most challenging part was handling large files with high res images and long print queues. System had to properly batch ordered images, put them into files ready for printing and later notify customers about shipping progress. We had to:

• Improve invoice creation speed
• Create Orders Dashboard to help with managing orders that are currently in progress
• Migrate data between AWS instances
• Help with post production packaging
• Optimize batch generation
• Improve integration with shipping providers for shipping cost calcuation and delivery addresses verification

In addition to work on their API, we've got a chance to work on their Barcode scanning app based on C#/.NET WinForms.

Hybrid mobile app that would allow users to choose multiple photos from their phone, Google Photos, Facebook, Dropbox or Intagram and get them printed on small metal tiles. Application included integration with Google Images, Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox and was designed to work on Android and iOS. Usual ordering process was implemented with Credit Card payments, shipping, billing addresses etc. Users had an option to resize and crop images to choose which part has to be printed. Integration with API was implemented to get ordered images printed.

Project's core functionality is to collect a lot of data from GPS trackers sending data over celular network in different conditions, register paths, checkpoints and race time of participants and display all of that infomration to viewers and organisers in near real time.

Our first steps were new features and fixes of immediate issues found on the project. But it was also seen that project does not work well enough. Frequent performance issues during events, participants positions getting stuck or moving in unnatural way, outdated or wrong classifications, misconfigurations due to many things being done directly in the database. All of that was our reality at the beginning.

To improve situation we have added and improved caching, made a few iterations of icon animation algorithm, filtered input data and built a better admin interface to have a better control of an internal state of the app.

When we got a task to refresh design, we have taken an opportunity to get rid of outdated, not supported code and migrate to modern toolset. Symfony PHP used for backend and Angular on a frontend. UI is now multi lingual, just as users of the system. We have also built a new maps framework which allowed us to enable different sources of maps data relaively easy. Project isn't limited to use of Google Maps as it was before. It can already use OSM, allows to switch maps on the fly and add more maps in case of necessity. To make transition quick and smooth, we have first implemented user facing part of the app, keeping admin functionality on the old system. Once we got public UI working well enough, we continued to move admin functionality to a new system. With no rush and keeping all necessary funcitionality available all the time.

We have started with a project with limited functionality, unable to survive a single race without issues and us working weekends to get things going.

At this moment, project handles multiple events per weekend with minimal attention frou our engeneers. Started with a few races per season and just a few hundreds of contestants, it currently handles 100+ events per season with 10 000+ contestants. We are proud that our hard work allowed to build a descent base for a growing business.

Starting with simple tasks, proved ability to work with more complicated things and got involved into development of more important business logic, database, mobile appication of version 2 of CHIME software.

Delivery of somewhat standard functionality turned into work on more complicated things. Got involved into implementation of highly dynamic form builder (so called Chimelets), when it appeared to be slow on Internet Explorer with hundreds of form fields added - helped to resolve that issue.

After some time, we were involved into upgrade of an old Cordova app to newer version of Cordova, extension of functionality of that application and its interaction with the server side.

Offline nature of the application required a good synchronisation with the server. Good for a startup demos and limited functionality, it couldn't survive more complex challenges, missing required data and keeping unwanted data on mobile. Both mobile and application was modified to ensure that mobile application receives everything required and does not hold unwanted data.

At the beginning, highly dynamic structure of data was implemented using JSON stored in the database. Due to limited functionality of SQLite and amounts of data (literally millions of rows on mobile device, database taking gigabites of space), solution wasn't acceptable and it was gradually replaced by a better structured, but still completely dynamic tables.

Another challenge that we had was a continuous tracking of device location, necessary for workers security. Due to highly restrictive environment of mobile OS and strict requirements, we had to apply all available creativity to get it work as requested.

Since joining Highedge Soft accompanied Clear Horizon on their path from a small startup to a much bigger company whose product is being used by major network operators in UK, like K Power Networks, Cadent Gas, SSE Networks, and SP Electricity North West

As any growing business, Clear Horizon and their CHIME software gets new challenges, forcing us to get to the bottoms of what servers and mobile apps can provide.

While working on the project, we have completed product listings, searches, filters, administrative pages.

Once initial requests were implemented, we continued to work with the customer on improving the project and adding new features. We have implemented a lot of different features, including:

COVID caused a pause on the project, with some small updates to adapt to new circumstances. After the break, we have contiuned with some new changes and support operations on the project, followed by another new project.

Customer wanted to create a new version of their offers management system based on very old .NET code.

As the first step, we have checked if existing code could be still used in some way. As it turned out, code was 10+ years old, with part of sources not available. It was agreed that upgrade of that old code isn't pragmatic and missing source code makes it practically impossible.

In result, we have created a new system based on .NET Core and Angular. Old code was used as a reference for the new system, but we have also implemented some improvements and changes that customer wanted to have in the new system.

We were ordered to create a new design for customer's website, both mobile and desktop version. New design implemented according to HTML design files and with multiple languages support.

Included public site for available for candidates with a listing of current jobs, application form and review form. Administrative site for employees to view and manage applications received, listing of current jobs and automation to collect applications from provided email account.

Enterprise-grade ticketing platform for both customer support and internal operations, built for a datacenter provider environment. It combines a customer-facing helpdesk and advanced internal workflow automation, SLA tracking, reporting. LLM/AI used by the system and in process of development.

Starting with a few small tasks, we have managed to build a solid toolset for the customer's business.

Solving challenges that their business had, we were growing both our technical competencies and understanding of customer's needs. We used every bit of gained knowledge to make our software better with each iteration. Which we believe is what every living business needs. The story of this project is still being written...
